LVVPA Title: President

Member: Connie Valentine


Connie Valentine was elected to the position of President of the Association at the Annual Meeting on May 15, 2014 and she was re-elected to this position at the Annual Meeting on May 19, 2016.  Connie previously served in many positions with the Association, including Parliamentarian of the Las Vegas Valley Paralegal Association (fka Nevada Paralegal Association.) She had served NPA as Treasurer during 2009 - 2011 and was formerly the Secretary and the NALA Liaison. Connie is the Office Manager at the Law Firm of Brian Shapiro and was formerly with the Wanderer Law P.C. for over 22 years, working primarily in the creditor rights and civil litigation fields, as well as handling the computer systems. Connie has been a member of NALA for over ten years. Connie is almost a Las Vegas native having relocated from upstate New York in 1981. Connie began her Las Vegas legal career with the Riviera Hotel in their collections department.

Member: Dawn Waddoups , CP


Dawn was elected to the position of Vice President of the Association for the 2016-2018 term at its Annual Meeting on May 19, 2016.  Dawn had previously served as Secretary of LVVPA during the 2015-2016 year.  Dawn has been working in the legal field since 2006.  She received her Paralegal Certificate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2008 and went on to obtain her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies Degree from the College of Southern Nevada in 2013, where she graduated with High Honors.  She is also a member of the NALA Organization and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Dawn started her own document preparation firm in 2015, where she assists the public with the drafting and filing of documents, as well as working as a contracted paralegal for various law firms.  Prior to starting her business, PLANv, LLC, Dawn worked as a paralegal for an AV rated law firm in the Henderson area that specialized in Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Probate, Guardianship, and Litigation matters.  She is also a Notary Public. Dawn received her Certified Paralegal designation from NALA in 2016.

Member: Jeanette Lacker


Jeanette was elected to the position of Treasurer of the Las Vegas Valley Paralegal Association on May 19, 2016. She has served in this position since 2014. Jeanette is a native of New York (Long Island) where she lived for twenty four years.  She has a degree in Secretarial Science from Briarcliff Secretarial School which she received in 1979.  In 1984, Jeanette relocated to New Jersey for ten years where she began her career in Family Law.  In 1995, Jeanette moved her family to Las Vegas.  She began working for Theresa Dowling, Esq. where she learned about Construction Defect. In 1996 she began working for Mushkin & Associates when she worked in Civil Litigation and Family Law. After getting married in 1998, she and her family moved to the Los Angeles area where she learned Transactional Law and Entertainment Law.  Jeanette then returned to Las Vegas in 2000, where she attended the College of Southern Nevada.  She graduated from CSN with a Paralegal Degree and Associates of Arts Degree.  Since then she has continued to in work in the family law field working for Jimmerson Hansen, Michele Roberts, Esq, and Dickerson Law Group.  Since January 2015 Jeanette has been working in the Clark County Courts for the Honorable Rena G. Hughes. Jeanette’s passion is in family law, however she has experience Civil Litigation, Construction Defect, Entertainment Law, and Transactional Law. Jeanette is a proud mother of two and grandmother to her favorite grandson Rory.  When not at work, Jeanette spends her time cooking and playing with her dog (which is deaf and partially blind).  She spends her time with her son and her husband who is blind.  Jeanette does a lot of explaining of the ADA laws since so many businesses do not know what the laws are when dealing with a blind person with a service animal. 




LVVPA Title: NALA Liaison

Member: Conni Hebert , ACP


Conni Hebert has been appointed as the NALA Liaison for the 2016-2017 term. Conni has been a paralegal for over 23 years. She developed an interest in the legal field while serving active duty in the U.S. Air Force. She is a Desert Shield and Desert Storm veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal and the U.S. Air Force Achievement Medal for her contributions to the Gulf War mission. Conni pursued her paralegal education by graduating with an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies, an ABA-approved program, from the American Institute in Phoenix, Arizona in 1993, graduating with magna cum laude honors. She was nominated and appointed as one of the 2000 Most Notable American Women in 1994 by the American Biographical Institute. She is Westlaw Certified, Westlaw Next Certified, and has earned the LexisNexis Paralegal Certificate of Mastery. Conni is originally from Texas and has worked as a paralegal in Texas, Arizona, California, and Nevada. She is currently employed as a commercial litigation paralegal at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP. She serves on the firm's Pro Bono Committee, Paralegal Advisory Committee, and Technology & E-Discovery Committee. Conni's paralegal work history includes working in law firms specializing in insurance defense, construction law, contract law, personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, ERISA subrogation, and general civil litigation. She has also worked with general counsel for a major land developer in Las Vegas as a corporate paralegal handling multiple real estate transactions. Conni is the Chair of the State Bar of Nevada - Paralegal Division, an active member of the Clark County Bar Association, and has been an actively involved member of the Las Vegas Valley Paralegal Association since 2006, currently serving on the Board of Directors as the NALA Liaison. Conni is a Certified Paralegal (CP®) and in 2012 earned the Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP®) credential in Discovery from the National Association of Legal Assistants-Paralegals (NALA). She is also a Notary Public.

Member: Linda Soeder , ACP


Linda Soeder became President of the Las Vegas Valley Paralegal Association (fka Nevada Paralegal Association) for the term 2012-2014. She most recently held the position of NALA Liaison for the Association and she was formerly Vice-President (2010-2012) and Secretary (2009) of LVVPA.  Linda is originally from Atlantic City, New Jersey, and re-located to Las Vegas in 1999. After working in the Casino industry for many years, she decided to pursue a career in the legal field. Linda was a paralegal at Harrah’s (now Caesars) Corporate offices for 6 years and is currently working at Everi Payments Inc. (f/k/a Global Cash Access) as a Licensing Paralegal. Linda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing and obtained her certificate from the Paralegal Studies program at UNLV. Linda has been a Certified Paralegal since 2009. Her paralegal work is in the area of gaming licensing regulatory compliance.  Linda is a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants/Paralegals (NALA); Clark County Bar Association (CCBA); and the winner of the Harrah's regional Chairman's Award in 2005.  She has been a Notary Public for over 20 years.  Linda received NALA's Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP) designation after completing the course for Business Organizations.
